AXA Employees Bring New Meaning To "Globe-Trotting"

Your glamorous correspondent is of the view that circumnavigating the globe without petrochemical assistance is an activity now of historical interest only, so was most impressed to learn that employees from AXA Wealth recently did just that.

As part of AXA’s annual corporate responsibility week, the group’s global roster of employees took part in a sponsored walk or cycle and clocked up a total of 198,000 kilometres – that’s nearly five times the circumference of the earth! The contribution of the employees of AXA Wealth alone came to 4,788 kilometres during the 24-hour challenge.

It makes one feel sweaty just to think about it, but what will really bring a smile to the face is that the charitable impact coming from the combined pedal and pied power of AXA’s employees: for every kilometre walked or cycled by employees, AXA Group donated €1 to CARE International.

Although Ms Moneta remains convinced that circling the globe is something best achieved with the aid of jet fuel, she doffs her hat to those pounding the pavement for such a good cause.
